Dual Enrollment
Graduating Dual Enrollment Students
Summer A - Admissions Process
St. Johns River State College has a procedure to allow Dual Enrollment students who will graduate from high school in the spring to enroll that summer. Students must demonstrate they have performed college-equivalent work to begin attending courses in the Summer A term. Students will be required to complete a readmission application and to submit a separate request for the opportunity to take courses in the Summer A term. Enrollment under this exception is for Summer A only. Please see the information below regarding Financial Aid and Bright Futures.
If you wish to attend courses under this exception, you must send your request to the Office of Student Affairs for approval. The following are required before a decision is made to enroll:
- Complete a Readmission application online at sjrstate.edu.
- Submit a statement explaining why the student wishes to begin classes early (i.e., before High School graduation) either in a letter or memo format.
- Provide a letter from the High School Guidance office which confirms that the student will be eligible to graduate in the current academic year. The letter must include the date of expected graduation.
The following requirements must have been met:
- Earned at least 12 credit hours as a Dual Enrollment student while a high school student. These courses and credit hours cannot include AP / AICE / IB or other equivalent programs; they must be earned Dual Enrollment credits.
- Earned at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA on the college equivalent work (the Dual Enrollment courses already taken).
PLEASE NOTE: The Readmission application, statement requesting an exception, and letter from the High School are due to the Office of Student Affairs no later than May 1st at 5:00 p.m. If May 1st falls on a weekend, the request will be due the following Monday. Incomplete requests for this exception will not be accepted or reviewed. Students needing assistance with their course schedule are encouraged to call the Dual Enrollment Office at (386) 312-4136 and speak with a Dual Enrollment Specialist.
If you are admitted for the Summer A term, you will be responsible for tuition, fees, and books.
Please note that financial aid will not be provided for the semester you seek early enrollment. Once you are admitted as a traditional student and provide a copy of your final high school transcript, you may apply and be considered for financial aid. Bright Futures can only be awarded during the Summer B term, and only the Academic Scholars and the Medallion Scholars will pay for summer coursework. Any other Bright Futures scholarships will not pay in the summer term.
Academic Appeals and Summer Term A petitions should be submitted to April Munoz at or call 386-312-4107.
