Honors Program
EXCEED YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS
The Honors Program at SJR State offers outstanding and motivated students the opportunity to enhance and foster their individuality, leadership skills and educational experiences through:
- Challenging coursework outside the format and expectations of traditional classes,
- Different approaches to teaching and learning,
- Special sections of general education courses that stress the development of critical thinking skills, preparing students for advanced study in university coursework,
- Activities not typically available in regular sections, and
- Leadership and service to others.
Students enrolled in the program receive special recognition upon successful completion.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Current College Students
This includes transfer students and dual enrollment students who have already completed college courses. To qualify, students must:
- Have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher, and
- Have completed at least 9 college-level credit hours, and
- Be college ready in English, reading, and mathematics (no developmental courses required)
First-Time-in-College Students
This includes high school graduates and dual enrollment students who are new to college coursework. To qualify, students must:
- Have an unweighted high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, or
- Have an ACT composite score of 26 or higher, or
- Have a combined SAT score of 1170 or higher, and
- Be college ready in English, reading, and mathematics (no developmental courses required)
Dual enrollment students must also be recommended by their high school principal or designee and have permission of the SJR State Director of Dual Enrollment.
