FIRST TIME STUDENTS


Welcome to St. Johns River State College! We're here to support you on every step of your Viking journey. From academic advising and free tutoring to career services and vibrant student clubs, SJR State is committed to ensuring your success and making you feel at home. Below, you'll find essential information on what to do next to complete admissions and enrollment. We look forward to welcoming you into the Viking family!


After your application is processed and you have received your student ID and email, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the “MySJRstate” link in the upper left-hand corner
2. On the next page, click “First Time User Acceptance Policy” and enter the requested information to log in
3. Follow the instructions to accept the policies and create your new password
4. You will then be prompted to activate the College’s Duo Security two-factor authentication practice that enhances the security of your account by using a secondary device to verify your identity. This includes the option of downloading the free Duo mobile app or requesting a security key device (sold in the bookstore).
5. Make note of your MySJRstate Login name for future use

Use your student number you received in the mail and follow the directions to set up your student account. Once your account is set up, look in the MySJRstate portal complete the Online Orientation. This must be done before meeting with an advisor to register for classes.

  1. Check your email for access instructions.
  2. Login to the MySJRstate portal
  3. Select “Canvas” from the “Student” drop down tab
  4. On the Canvas dashboard, select “New Student Orientation”

You’ll need to request and submit official high school or GED transcripts to the Record’s Office.

Students who received a GED can find information on how to request their official GED transcript through ged.com/transcripts/

Home school students must submit the Affidavit of Home School Completion and appropriate documentation as detailed on this form.

If you’ve attended another college or university, official transcripts from ALL previously attended institutions must be submitted. The transcript(s) should show that there is no coursework in progress.

Foreign academic transcripts must be in English and evaluated by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES): naces.org/members. University or college transcripts must include a course-by-course evaluation.

Some non-degree seeking and college credit certificate students may have different requirements.

Florida Residency Guidelines

Grants, scholarships and loans are available for qualifying students.

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at Studentaid.gov with the SJR State school code 001523.
  2. Check out the SJR State Scholarship webpage. Compete one application to apply for scholarship opportunities through SJR State.
  3. Prefer to self-pay? We offer a Tuition Payment Plan with easy online enrollment and flexible payment options for qualified programs. Enrollment can be completed by logging into the MySJRstate portal and clicking the green "Pay My Tuition and Fees” button. Students needing additional information can contact the SJR State Business Office at 386-312-4121.

After completing orientation, you’re ready to meet an advisor who will make sure you have everything you need to enroll in classes. Contact your campus Academic Advising office to schedule an appointment:

Don’t forget to pick your classes!
Course registration is done through the MySJRstate portal.

Visit the bookstore in person or online at Bookstore.SJRstate.edu for store hours, textbook rentals, book cards, college apparel and more. Be sure to bring a copy of your schedule when purchasing textbooks.

Request a free parking decal on the MySJRstate portal under the “Student” drop down tab. Decals are required on all campuses.
