Associate in Science Degree in Nursing - Limited access program

This program prepares students for careers as registered nurses and can be completed in two years. Gain the skills and knowledge to help patients cope with illness, instruct patients and their families in proper care, and develop and manage nursing care plans. Graduates are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). HANDS ON!

  • Classrooms are designed to simulate hospitals with actual patient scenarios that may be seen in the field.
  • State-of-the-art equipment and manikins provide the latest hands-on training.
  • Clinicals are scheduled throughout Northeast Florida at hospitals, providing students with “real-world” experiences.

Program Length:

  • 5 Semesters: The A.S. degree program can be completed in approximately 5 semesters.
  • Four years: Complete your A.S. degree and continue your education with SJR State’s Nursing: RN to BSN - Bachelor of Science Degree. (ONLINE PROGRAM)

The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the ASN nursing program is Continuing Accreditation.

Students from the college service district of Clay, Putnam and St. Johns county will be ranked first in the selection process.

The following two items will provide you information on legislative changes and the Board of Nursing's perspective on prior criminal history and disciplinary action that may impact your eligibility to complete clinical experiences in the nursing program and that may impact your eligibility to take the NCLEX licensure examination. (4) Fall 2022 Program Changes:
We will be replacing HUN 1201 with either AMH 2020 or POS 1041. This change is the result of a new requirement that all college graduates will need to complete a course in Civics Literacy.

We will continue to accept HUN 1201 in addition to the civics courses above, as entry into the nursing program for 2022. However, you may be required to take a civics course prior to graduation to complete the nursing program.

The requirement to repeat Anatomy and Physiology if the courses are more than 7 years old, will be removed as of the Fall 2022 semester for new students entering the nursing program.

All requirements MUST be completed by the last day of the application period.
