SJR State celebrates nursing graduates with pinning ceremony
St. Johns River State College recently held a pinning ceremony to recognize the Associate in Science in Nursing (ASN) students and the Practical Nursing (PN) students from both the Orange Park and Palatka campuses. A continued tradition of Florence Nightingale’s extended honor to her most outstanding nurses, the pinning ceremony symbolizes the rite of passage into the nursing profession and the care and devotion nurses provide. Graduates received a pin that serves as a reminder of their purpose to serve the sick and infirmed.
The Florence Nightingale Award for demonstrating outstanding scholarship, compassion toward others, leadership in class and devotion to clients and their families was awarded to ASN students Desiree Nelson, of Duval County, and Deborah Mendoza, of Putnam County, and to PN student Jennifer Hopkins, of Putnam County.
