SJR State corrections cadets recognized
During the graduation ceremony, SJR State criminal justice instructor/coordinator Hancel Woods recognized Marcus Campbell (left) as the Highest Academic Achiever and Caleb Bohannon (center) for Most Proficient in Firearms.
Cadets from the St. Johns River State College Criminal Justice Academy were recently recognized for completing the Florida Corrections Officer Academy. The graduates include Derek Akins, Caleb Bohannon, Adam Burnette, Marcus Campbell, Iesha Daniels, Christopher Gipson, Lonnie Smith and Isaac Wanamaker.
During the ceremony, Marcus Campbell was recognized for special achievement, receiving the award for Highest Academic Achiever. Caleb Bohannon received the award for Most Proficient in Firearms.
The Florida Corrections Officer Academy career certificate program provides job-related training to prepare candidates for entry-level employment as corrections officers. The curriculum is prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission in accordance with Florida Statutes. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to take the state exam for corrections officer. The certificates also provide credits that can be transferred to SJR State’s associate in science degree in criminal justice technology.
Classes for the next Florida Corrections Officer Academy are tentatively set for April 2024. Applications for the Florida Law Enforcement Academy programs are available. Classes begin in January 2024. For more information, call (904) 808-7490 or visit https://www.sjrstate.edu/criminaljustice.
