SJR State corrections cadets recognized
Cadets from the St. Johns River State College Criminal Justice Academy were recently recognized for completing the Florida Corrections Officer Academy. The guest speaker was Tara Wildes, General Services Director for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The graduates include Arabella Blanks, Bailyn Futch, Maxwell Martin, Bryce Turner and Savannah Wells.
During the ceremony, Bailyn Futch was recognized for special achievement, receiving the awards for Highest Academic Achiever and Most Proficient in Firearms.
The Florida Corrections Officer Academy career certificate program provides job-related training to prepare candidates for entry-level employment as corrections officers. The curriculum is prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission in accordance with Florida Statutes. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to take the state exam for corrections officer. The certificates also provide credits that can be transferred to SJR State’s associate in science degree in criminal justice technology.
