SJR State to honor graduates December 19

Commencement speaker Kevin Kelly

St. Johns River State College will celebrate its fall commencement on December 19. Candidates from the Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine campuses will be acknowledged for their prospective associate and baccalaureate degrees, as well as certificate programs.

The ceremony is set for 10:00 am at the Thrasher-Horne Center located on the SJR State Orange Park campus. Doors open at 8:30 am. Tickets are required for graduate guests. The event will be live-streamed through the College’s YouTube channel.

SJR State President Joe Pickens, J.D., has announced Kevin Kelly as the commencement speaker. Kelly is approaching his 10th year at Florida School of the Arts, where he teaches acting, speech, directing and improvisation classes. Before joining the FloArts faculty, he was a professional actor based in New York City for 25 years. NYC theater credits include the Public Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, Lincoln Center, and the Acting Company; some favorite regional credits include Arena Stage, the Guthrie, Hartford Stage, Triad Stage and Two River Theater. TV and film credits include Law & Order and multiple soap operas. Kelly holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University / Tisch School of the Arts.

The Thrasher-Horne Center is owned and operated by SJR State and is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Drive.
