Florida School of the Arts presents “The Rocky Horror Show”

Florida School of the Arts presents the campy, over-the-top musical “The Rocky Horror Show” by Richard O'Brien. In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The two meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Dr. Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

The show runs on the FloArts mainstage (SJR State Palatka Campus):

  • Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 26 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 26 at midnight
  • Sunday, October 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online in advance or at the box office one hour before showtime. The show is meant for mature audiences and contains adult situations and adult language.

Originally performed in the 1970s, the show gained popularity because of fan participation. According to FloArts musical theater instructor and play director Russell Franks, the performance will stay true to the interactive components with prop bags available for purchase. A part of the house will be sectioned off for those electing to not participate. Upholding another ritual, Saturday’s performance will be held at midnight.

The cast includes Olivia Gonzalez as Usherette/Magenta; Alexis Brockway as Janet Weiss; E Noah Perez as Brad Majors; Jalen Hardy as Riff Raff; Shelby Howell as Columbia; Alexander Heck and Farentino Lennox as Frank-N-Furter; Greg Schuknecht as Rocky; and Andrew McClellan as Eddie/Dr. Scott.

The ensemble includes Eric Barnum, Jasmine Bruce, Tucker Garrett, Angel Hart, Alexander Heck, Annika Klee, Alexandra Pierre, Aloni Ramsey, Rose Roberts, and Sara Tierney.

Franks said that despite the hurricane closures, “The cast is committed to offering a fast-paced, high-energy, high-quality production that is sure to satisfy Rocky fans old and new,” Franks said.
