SJR State springs into service for St. Johns County Trash Bash 2024

PALATKA, FL (Jan. 9, 2024) – St. Johns River State College is excited to partner with St. Johns County Solid Waste Division for the 2024 Trash Bash.
This year, SJR State is collaborating with the St. Johns County Solid Waste Division to promote the 2024 Trash Bash – a beach cleanup effort central to SJR State’s 2024 spring Day of Service. SJR State students and employees will join the St. Johns County Solid Waste Division and other local organizations to beautify the beaches.
Launched in fall of 2019, Vikings Days of Service provides faculty, staff and students opportunities to serve the communities within the SJR State’s service district of Clay, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
This event takes place Jan. 19 from 1 - 4 p.m. Volunteers can choose from the following locations to help clean up St. Johns County beaches:
- Mickler’s Landing
- GTMMERR South Beach
- North Beach Park
- Vilano Beach
- The Pier at St. Augustine Beach
- Crescent Beach
- Fort Matanzas Beach
Clean up supplies will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and a reusable water bottle.
