PRESS RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

Florida Aviation Career Training partnership provides pilot pathway

Florida Aviation Career Training, in partnership with St. Johns River State College, will host a fast-track pilot program in St Augustine. An information luncheon is set for October 5.

The Professional Aeronautics Certificate (PAC) program is a 19-month accelerated program designed for career-focused students seeking a direct pathway to a career in professional aviation. The program is open to community members, and new and returning students, with additional enrollment opportunities for high school juniors and seniors who want to get an early start while still in high school.

Beginning November 4, the program will offer a weekly classroom course, taught by PAC instructors, at the SJR State St Augustine campus. Flight training will be held at Florida Aviation Career Training, located at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St Augustine.

The program will equip students with the knowledge and FAA certifications to become successful professional aviators. FAA certifications include private-pilot certification, instrument rating, commercial pilot certification, and flight instructor certifications (airplane). A typical week for a student will include 20 hours of training encompassing classroom study, flight training, and after-class assignments.

The PAC program offers industry-leading training equipment including training in Garmin G1000-equipped Technologically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) and in simulation via Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATDs) with Boeing’s ForeFlight ® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).

Upon completion of the program, students will have earned the required certificates and skills to begin building hours as a flight instructor or in other commercial operations. Admission requirements apply. Seating is limited.

According to Dr. Christopher Johnson, the program architect and former professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, “Graduates of our program will complete their training in under two years, ahead of traditional four-year programs.”

Register today and attend the program information session and luncheon on Oct. 5 at 12:00 pm. at the Northeast Regional Airport. Can’t attend in person? Register for an online information session on Oct 7, Oct 10, or Oct 15 at 6-7 pm. For more information and to apply online, please visit https://floridaaviationcareertraining.com/career-training.
