PRESS RELEASE: JANUARY 9, 2025
Human trafficking, stalking awareness/prevention at SJR State

National Human Trafficking Prevention and Stalking Awareness Month
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention and Stalking Awareness Month. In partnership with the Betty Griffin Center, St. Johns River State College will present free information sessions to educate the community on human trafficking/stalking and what to do if you suspect someone is in danger.
Participants will learn the warning signs of stalking, common behaviors, and how stalking intersects with human trafficking. Gain insight on how trafficking breaks down and why people don’t report it. Most importantly, participants can learn how to better interact with individuals who have experienced complex trauma and how to advocate for youth and young adults with system involvement.
The event is open to students and the public, 11:00 – 12:00 in the campus Viking Center.
Orange Park Campus - Tuesday, Jan. 21
St. Augustine Campus - Wednesday, Jan. 22
Palatka Campus – Thursday, Jan. 23
